I was invited to join a French artist Emma, who I've known for over 30 years, to exhibit some of my work alongside hers in a week long event in September 2023.
I was given a huge table to display my work on, which worked really well. Customers were drawn in and enjoyed picking up the pieces before deciding which ones they wanted to take home.
After our opening night we had a steady flow of visitors for the whole week with lots of interest in both the artwork and my turned pieces.
Each of my pieces is a one off. My aim for the exhibition was to show lots of different styles, shapes, colours and finishes.
Many customers asked questions about how the colouring and finishing was achieved and enjoyed seeing the different paints and dyes that I use.
The gallery was full from start to finish - a little bit exhausting but it was an amazing event.
As this was my first public exhibition, I was keen to find out which pieces people were drawn to. I was delighted that it was both the natural and coloured pieces as well as the small and the larger ones.
The bowls and plates that I'd embellished with iridescent paint drew a lot of interest.
